Sunday trading move good for small firms

FSB has welcomed the House of Commons vote to prevent the extension of Sunday trading hours in England and Wales, after raising concerns over the impact this could have on smaller firms.

“Our members have been unconvinced of the economic case for relaxing Sunday trading rules, and there has been no impact assessment to support the proposals,” said Mike Cherry, FSB National Chairman. “FSB calls on ministers to listen to the views of small businesses and the House of Commons on this issue.

“The current system can be seen as a great British compromise,” added Mr Cherry.
