The Federation of Small Businesses has launched a networking group that celebrates East Anglia’s women in business.
The Female Entrepreneurs Meetup (FEM), which will run quarterly, will aim to highlight the successes of entrepreneurial women from across the region.
The launch event was held at the Park Farm Hotel in Hethersett, and hosted by FSB Membership Advisor Diane Burgess.
Diane told delegates at the meeting that, while East Anglia could already point to many inspiring examples of successful female entrepreneurs, more positive steps towards empowerment and opening up opportunities were necessary.
The main speaker at the event was Norfolk Council Chair Margaret Stone. Councillor Stone explained that the key theme of her tenure as chair would be to convey the importance of building aspiration in women by demonstrating that there were no boundaries to their attainment in any field.
Attendees also heard from Susan Ringwood about the work of the Norfolk Community Foundation.
The next FEM will be held at the same venue on 1 May. Dame Rachel De Souza, founder of the Inspiration Trust, will speak about the work being undertaken to encourage young women into sectors of the economy in which they are currently under-represented.
Tickets for the meeting are on sale through Eventbrite.
