In August this year, former BBC Dragon and business magnate Theo Paphitis gave Bays Consulting, a Surrey data analysis company big online exposure.
Owner of Bays Consulting, Dr Sophie Carr, received a retweet from the famous retail entrepreneur, after her company was named as one of six winners of the Theo Paphitis' Small Business Sunday contest.
Details about Sophie’s company, which provides operational and tactical analysis for businesses, was retweeted to Theo’s half a million strong Twitter following.
The weekly initiative was set up by Mr Paphitis in 2010 to support small UK businesses.
“I’m absolutely delighted to receive this support from Theo and it’s given my business a real boost,” said Sophie, who set up Bays Consulting nine years ago.
“I look forward to meeting Theo - and other Small Business Sunday winners - at his annual networking event, as well as engaging with other winners in the exclusive weekly Twitter #SBSWinnersHour.”
Theo added: “I admire people who have passion and energy. If you cannot bore your friends to death about your own small business then something is seriously wrong.
“I know I have been lucky in business and I am keen now to spread goodwill to others, of course not forgetting that very often, you make your own luck by making use of every opportunity.”
Spurred on by the winning Small Business Sunday, Bays Consulting also entered and won the Market Me #SmartSocial award on the 2nd September. This award was set up in 2012 to help promote micro and SME businesses which have the best and innovative use of social media. There’s no doubt that social media plays an incredibly important part in getting a company’s message out but it also helps small businesses build those all-important networks.
Just four days later Sophie won the company’s third award, the #Queenof which is a competition founded in 2012 by Andy Quinn @ADG_IQ who was inspired by the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012 and wanted to celebrate women and men in business with #QueenOf and #KingOf days. Sophie is now the proud owner of the #Queenof Statistics award.
The positive impact of the awards has really helped Bays Consulting understand the power and importance of social media in supporting all areas of the business from lead generation through to sales, marketing and project delivery.
