FSB members in two constituencies in Lancashire have met with their local Members of Parliament to discuss the key issues within FSB’s new campaign #ThinkSelfEmployed.
The campaign highlights the key areas of difference in the entitlements of the self-employed compared to people in direct employment, including areas such as holiday pay, sick pay and maternity and paternity leave where the self-employed get little or no support.
Jake Berry (pictured above), Northern Powerhouse Minister and MP for Rossendale & Darwen and Andrew Stephenson, Government Whip and MP for Pendle both showed their support for the campaign as we asked them to ensure that the Government does consider the crucial role that the self-employed play in creating wealth and starting and growing businesses when setting policy nationally.
FSB Development Manager Paul Foster said: “Both meetings were well received by the businesspeople who attended and the MPs. FSB members are typical of the hard-working entrepreneurs that we need more of to ensure that we grow our economy and provide good quality, productive employment opportunities.”
Further meetings with elected representatives are planned, email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
