T’was the breakfast before Christmas

#FSBConnect Eastbourne networking breakfast went off with a cracker bang this December. FSB Connectors and their guests dressed for the festive season and came ready to pitch their business with a Christmas theme. Our host, Peter Lowton and team, from the Priory Court Hotel (next to Pevensey Castle) cooked up a range of tasty breakfast delights including a welcoming complementary Bucks Fizz.

The Best Dressed for Christmas competition proved easy to judge, despite the array of red and green patterns, hats and baubles on show. This was on account of Darren Fuller of DLF Services coming to the party in a fully inflatable Santa outfit including singing and dancing hat (pictured)! The Best Christmas pitch was won by our host Peter Lowten (and being polite folk, no one shouted ‘fix!’) who delivered a faultless and listenable pitch, with cosy Christmas references as to why we should all stay at his lovely Hotel. Peter is pictured, left, receiving his bottle of bubbly prize from Colin Slaughter, branch Chairman.

Colin Slaughter led proceedings for his final FSB event and was thanked heartily by Darran Hathaway, Regional Chairman, and all, for his many years of fantastic activism for FSB. Darran said: “Every Region needs a Colin Slaughter. He’s been our ‘action man’ over many years, organising and hosting FSB events and leading campaigning for small business interests. We owe him a big thank you.”

Martin Searle, FSB’s Development Manager, concluded by covering the branch’s achievements over 2017 and introducing plans for FSB campaigns in 2018. This includes increasing apprenticeship numbers and funding and increasing Council contracting with local, smaller businesses. Prizes at the breakfast were generously donated by The Dental Barn and Setyres. #FSB Connect events can be booked on our events calendar here – all businesses welcome!
