In recent months, there have been a number of good news stories making the headlines, but which may have passed you by.
For example, Shropshire businesses are benefiting from successful funding applications to the Business Growth Programme. To date, 17 businesses have secured almost £340,000 of additional funding, bringing the total investment in them to around £1million.
In Herefordshire, proposals for the new university moved closer, with confirmation of £8 million of funding from the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the appointment of the founding president and chief executive officer.
Meanwhile, recent figures from the Office of National Statistics showed that Worcestershire’s productivity was growing faster than any other LEP area in England.
These are just a few examples of recent successes in our Shires. Naturally we will continue to play our part, working with other business, public sector and academic organisations to help create the conditions for local economic development and small business growth.
