Bini Ludlow, owner of Sweet Cumin Indian Cookery School and long-time FSB member, was presented with the gold award in the ‘Learning Experience of the Year’ category at a glittering award ceremony in Bristol’s Marriot Hotel which saw a record 82 finalists from across the region picking up gold, silver and bronze trophies. It is a great accolade for cookery expert Bini, who started her company 8 years ago with just £200. Now the cookery school, which teaches keen cooks the secrets of great Indian recipes, is attracting customers travelling from as far afield as America and Spain.
Bini believes in teaching cooks the importance of using spices, trying new flavour combinations and how to create and develop their own dishes.
Bini says ‘ it was the first time she has entered a tourism awards but as she began to attract cooks from across the globe who were keen to learn about Indian cookery she felt it was appropriate. Cooks would book onto a cookery class, stay in local hotels and accommodation and visit attractions throughout the south west’. Bini also said ‘Sweet Cumin has grown over the last 8 years and who would have ever thought at a small business (with big ideas) in Radstock would bring so much business to the region, Bini feels proud to help other businesses with her success along the way’.
