“Together we can not only reduce crime against business but prevent it as well!” said Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner, David Munro at an exceptionally productive discussion meeting with Federation of Small Business (FSB) members which included our Surrey Chief Constable, Gavin Stephens.
It was agreed when the meeting commenced that communications between Surrey Police and business owners must be improved. Many meetings are organised by the Police with very few businesses attending. For details of future meetings add @DavidJMunro and @SurreyPolice to your twitter feed plus any beat feeds. Reporting of business crime is essential. We may not consider this making a difference but it builds up a picture for future arrests. FSB were asked to inform their members that the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit run a Cyber Protect 2 hour free workshop for businesses and details will be published soon.
The Community Speed Watch initiative is successful in Sussex which is assisted by employers and employees giving up a day a month to support policing. Finally, all business owners please make sure your files are backed up, your CCTV is working and all of your locks are up to date. Always report crime.
FSB and Surrey Police will continue dialogue to help prevent crime against business.
