The previous Regional Policy Committee meeting included discussions with local Accountant and FSB Member Richard Hallsworth of Lincoln Accountants Nicholsons. Richard gave his thoughts on several financial and regulatory issues that are most relevant to small businesses.
These included NIC, Business Rates and the Making Tax Digital proposals. In particular, Richard looked at the issue of Incorporation and whether some businesses are incorporating as Companies when they may be better off, based on profit levels, remaining as Sole Traders or Partnerships.
Currently, it is estimated that about 32% of businesses are Companies and that is a slight increase on the previous year.
The next Regional Policy Meeting is on Tuesday 11 July 2017 when the guest speaker will be FSB Policy Group Chairman for Transport and Infrastructure, David Tucker. In our very rural region with high levels of traffic on low quality roads the issues that David will discuss will be of importance to the local committee.
