Members of the Federation of Small Businesses in the constituency of Norwich North have met with their local MP to discuss the key challenges facing their firms.

The event, held at Sprowston Manor, saw Chloe Smith MP taking questions from FSB members on a range of issues, including the ongoing Brexit negotiations.

Members highlighted the need to improve transport infrastructure – and in particular described the challenges caused by congestion on local roads.

The difficulty of finding skilled recruits was also discussed, with Ms Smith speaking about the Norwich For Jobs project that she chairs, and that seeks to find employment opportunities for young people based in and around the city.

FSB Development Manager Andrew Mower, who chaired the meeting, explained to Ms Smith that late payments remained one of the main challenges for many small businesses, though welcomed the government’s recent announcement of proposals to take action on the issue.

The event was the last in a series of MP roundtables held throughout East Anglia over the past couple of months. Further roundtables will be held in the new year, with local FSB members invited to participate.
