The MP for Norwich South visited small firms in his constituency on Norfolk Day, as part of an event organised by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

Clive Lewis MP visited Norwich Acupuncture Rooms, The Lanes Clinic, and social enterprise Your Own Place, to hear about some of their successes and challenges.

The firms spoke to Mr Lewis about the sense of community among local businesses, and the importance of co-operating on shared issues.

Samatha Quinton, owner of The Lanes Clinic, highlighted the support she had received from local businesses after vandals attacked her firm’s premises with graffiti earlier this year.

Other topics raised included the rising importance of mental health in the workplace, and for the support available to businesses to be more clearly signposted.

FSB Area Lead David Howell said: “We’re using Norfolk Day to celebrate the vibrant small business community that we’re so fortunate to have in this county.

“We have 2,500 members across Norfolk and it’s vital that we continue to make sure that they have their voices heard by our politicians, so we’re grateful to Clive for joining us today.”

Clive Lewis MP said the first ever Norfolk Day had been a “bootiful” experience, and that the activities being held on the day demonstrated again that small firms were an important part of the community.
