Northants businesses: Broadband speeds slowing you down?

Northamptonshire County Council have applied for Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) funding to roll out Superfast Broadband to rural premises.

The FSB has helped support the application with verbal and written assistance, and have explained to the County Council team why Superfast Broadband is required by small businesses. We also sit on the Partnership Board which is overseeing the rollout to the last 3% of businesses who so far have not received superfast provision. The RDPE application is being processed now and the result is due soon.

The County Council have asked us to help locate those FSB members in the rural areas whose internet speeds are not good enough to run their business. If this sounds like you, can you please email giving the name of your business, postcode and your current speed. A bit about your business and how it’s affected by broadband would also be very useful in illustrating the problem.

You can check current availability and expected download speed by using the BT Line Checker – Please click here, which takes you to an FAQ section on the Superfast Northamptonshire website. Please select the FAQ titled ‘How to use the BT Line Checker’. This provides a link for the BT checker and user guide. You can also check if your business forms part of Gigaclear’s planned ‘ultrafast broadband’ deployment across the county. Please select the FAQ titled ‘How do I find out if I am in a Gigaclear ultrafast broadband area’.

This information will enable the County Council to determine whether you form part of the final 3% of areas which are still in need of the solution.

We would be grateful for any replies by Friday 20th April.
