Go Below, a North Wales adventure business based in Conwy, has won the prestigious “Family Business of the Year” award at the 2017 FSB & World Pay Awards, beating off competition from around the UK.
Go Below is a family-run business established in Betws-y-Coed. It offers tours through the local abandoned slate mines where guests can indulge in various thrill-seeking activities. For those who don’t fancy climbing, traversing or abseiling, expert trip leaders also reveal the history of the mine and offer a tour of the ancient artefacts inside.
Go Below beat off strong competition from across the UK to be named Family Business of the Year. Jen Moulding, Managing Director, said:
"We're thrilled to win this wonderful award, thank you so much to the FSB and Worldpay for such prestigious recognition of our efforts. It's a hard juggling act running a successful business and raising a family, especially when the children are also Home Educated. That's why our thanks also go to our fantastic close knit team of managers, office staff, cafe staff, trip leaders and assistants who feel like family and whom we couldn't develop this business without."
Go Below’s success highlights the success of North Wales tourism in recent years, with small businesses leading the way on this. Other successful ventures which have tourists flocking from around the UK include Zip World and Bounce Below, as well as the more established and well known tourist landmarks such as Snowdonia and Colwyn Bay.
North Wales has a huge amount to offer tourists; from adventure days out that you can do nowhere else, to beautiful coastal walks and excellent restaurants and cafes, small businesses are demonstrating the diversity of our offer and are bringing in tourists from across the world.
