One of Scarborough’s best-known independent businesses is all set for its grand opening next month.
Amelia Forrest who is the founder and owner of Amelia’s Chocolate is opening her new premises at the former Scarborough Evening News offices in Aberdeen Walk on Saturday 13th October 2018 as part of National Chocolate Week. Amelia is also an FSB Member and active volunteer
The premises is just a stone’s throw from the main shopping street of Westborough, Scarborough.
Amelia started her business in 2011 on her kitchen table following a life-saving operation.
The business owner, who was born in Scarborough, underwent a heart transplant aged just 15 years old after being diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
Amelia continued: “The grand opening is the result of lots of hard work that’s gone on behind the scenes.
“We also welcome Rivka Moore to the team, who will be studying for a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship at the Scarborough Campus of Coventry University. This qualification will enable Rivka to help me manage Amelia’s Chocolates going forward.”
Carolyn Frank, FSB Development manager for North Yorkshire, stated that “It is wonderful to see Amelia’s chocolates expanding having overcome both personal and business barriers, she’s a real life example of the perseverance of small business owners to overcome challenges, her story is an inspiration to retailers to keep on pushing forward despite tough times on our high streets”.
