New networking event starts in Chesterfield

A new FSB monthly networking event has started with success in North Derbyshire in association with a local university.

FSB Connect Chesterfield began in mid-April as a monthly event providing an opportunity for networking and a slot for a speaker at the University of Derby’s campus in the town.

On a day-to-day basis the campus caters for health and social care and nursing students and also offers room and office space hire.

The first speaker was Clare Elsby, FSB Area Lead and Business Development Director of accountants Elsby & Co, who spoke on the challenges and opportunities from the Making Tax Digital change over.

The opening address was provided by Nigel Hudson, FSB Member and Research Director of Stratagia Limited, who also helped setup the new event.

Nigel said: “As a local to North Derbyshire and a long time FSB member I was delighted to play a role in getting this new Connect networking event up and running.

“The event gives business from all across the East Midlands an excellent opportunity to network as well as to listen to a speaker of great knowledge on a specific subject.

“Both I and fellow FSB members and staff are very grateful for the support provided by the University of Derby for working in association with us on Connect and providing the venue for free as well as future speakers.”

Speakers at future events will be provided by the University of Derby’s staff team including on social media in May and cybercrime in June.
