Clemmie Reed of Merci Maman says that having been aware of the fantastic work that the FSB do for small businesses like ours, we decided to enter the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards - International Business of the Year award with trepidation, knowing that the standard of the entries would be very high.
It was therefore such an honour to receive the award at the regional London finals. As an e-commerce business selling hand-engraved jewellery we have worked hard to implement an effective international strategy, and to have this recognised by such an authority is truly very special to us.
It also provided an excellent opportunity to connect with other finalists during a wonderful lunch at the impressive Royal Horseguards Hotel. Listening to the stories behind all of the other businesses was a real highlight of the day.
Attending the glamorous national finals at Battersea Evolution was a fantastic experience and a real reward for all of the hard work that we have put into the business.
It was interesting to see such a diverse range of companies come together to celebrate their successes, and also to support such a fantastic cause as the Rainbow Trust. We eagerly anticipate next year’s awards and will definitely be entering again!
Award-winning business, Merci Maman was founded by Béatrice de Montille from her kitchen table in 2007, the business has grown constantly and experienced a step change in 2014 when Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted wearing a Merci Maman necklace after the birth of Prince George. Overnight the company turnover tripled and they saw significant growth in international sales particularly in the US, France and Germany. In 2017, Merci Maman was a recipient of The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.
