Members meet with Lord Chancellor in Berkhamsted

A round table lunch meeting between members in South West Hertfordshire and their MP,  Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, David Gauke  was held at the Old Mill Restaurant in Berkhamsted earlier in the summer.
The meeting was chaired by East of England policy lead, Michael Mealing and was attended by FSB members who live or have businesses in his South West Hertfordshire constituency, which takes in Berkhamsted and Tring.

Many topics of interest to the small business community were discussed,  including bank branch closures and the effect that has of small businesses, business rates and the lack of affordable business premises in the area as well as how the apprenticeship system could be improved.

Michael Mealing, said: “We had very useful discussion with David and he was very interested in the business community in the constituency. We had a full and frank discussion on a number of topics including what the government could do to foster a more business friendly environment.”
There will be a number of round table meetings held with local MPs in the East of England  over the coming months, many focussing on the issues raised by FSB’s #ThinkSelfEmployed  campaign and members are urged to come along to let your views known.

Development Manager for the Beds, Cambs and Herts, Caron Kendall said: “These meetings with MPs are invaluable as a way to lobby for better conditions for the self-employed.  It is vital that we get the full range of members coming along to them so that MPs can raise their concerns in parliament. It is also a great opportunity to meet with other FSB members in your constituency.”
