Kathy drives into the lions' den for Children in Need

It will be a driving lesson with a difference for FSB member Kathy Higgins, of award-winning Insight 2 Drive, when she leads the penultimate leg of the Big Learner Relay from Haydock to the lion’s enclosure at Knowsley Safari Park in aid of Children in Need.

The two-week event, now in its fourth year, has seen driving instructors and pupils across the UK relay a Pudsey roof top box from one driving lesson to another – including Kathy’s hair-raising leg on Friday, 17 November, which is the 2017 Children in Need Appeal Day.

It will be the culmination of more than 3000 miles over 4 days, and over 190 lead driving lessons involving thousands of instructors and their pupils.

“We want to raise as much money as we can for Children in Need, during the last three years driving instructors across the country have raised over £250k,” said Kathy.

“We are adding spots, along with Pudsey the bear, on to our cars. People simply sponsor a spot by donating via our Just Giving page. With the final leg being in Liverpool, and a party afterwards, it is a great opportunity to showcase the city too.”

People can join the convoy on the last day at Knowsley Safari Park before partying into the night at The Village Hotel Club Liverpool, Whiston, Merseyside, with comedian, Stephen Grant and a DJ. Tickets are £34 per person and include a three course dinner – in keeping with the final destination the dress code is ‘smart with a hint of safari!’
