FSB Devon DM attended the conference on Monday 12th November at Sandy Park Exeter. This was a great opportunity to catch up with stakeholders and key decision makers and to also hear about the HoTSW plans for the future.
Among many of the discussion topics were the state of the high street and how it could be supported to ensure it survives the current downturn and the impact of online shopping, and of course Brexit, would there be a deal, what kind of deal and what impact would this have on local businesses that are not all best placed to survive major changes.
Much of the discussion was around the fact that the HoTSW has now been given funding to support the local productivity plans and how this work leads into the plans for the area’s industrial strategy.
As always many of the discussions were about forward planning and even looking towards futureproofing the area so it’s always good to hear how the LEP wants to support this kind of work
