Have your say about a proposed Greater Manchester pollution charge

Do you run and operate a commercial diesel vehicle and do business anywhere in Greater Manchester? Or do you rely on one to keep your business supplied?

The 10 councils that make up Greater Manchester are seeking to introduce a London style pollution charge that will affect all diesel commercial vehicles built before 2016. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has been asked to create a working scheme and to implement the initial phase by 2021. The second phase will have to be live and in operation by 2023.

TfGM has asked FSB to assist in shaping the finished scheme by feeding in the views of small and micro-businesses from across GM, and beyond its borders, to assess the impact this might have on affected business. To this end, FSB is organising a roundtable consultation with businesses owners to pull together the various view of business. We are particularly keen to get the view of the trades, as well as businesses that work in the delivery sector, or any business that relies on a Light Goods Vehicle. You may not own your own vehicle, but rely on one for deliveries to your business.

If you would like to help - or know someone who might be willing to feed in to this one off session – please e-mail robert.downes@fsb.org.uk. Alternatively, text or telephone 0791 762 8905.

This is your chance to have a say on something that is likely to change your business model. Together we have a voice, but alone you won't be heard.
