Greater Lincolnshire business secures funded training

Navenby based manufacturing business SDG UK has accelerated its growth plans after accessing fully funded training from ‘Skills Support for the Greater Lincolnshire Workforce’.

Established in 1989, SDG UK supplies, installs, repairs and maintains a range of doors and security systems.  Having experienced a period of sustained growth, the ambitious firm has plans to develop even further within the next 12 months.

Director Simon Farrar recognised that to achieve their goals, the business needed to become more agile and adaptable to demand surges. His first port of call was to up-skill the whole engineering team, enabling them to become multi-skilled and qualified to work across the full product and service range. Through Skills Support for the Workforce, the firm accessed free training from locally based professional training provider, Essential Site Skills. With this support, SDG UK’s engineers all gained recognised qualifications.

“We have already seen an impact on business growth, and a positive effect on the team’s moral. This training has helped them feel valued, and demonstrated our commitment to their future within the company”, said Mr Farrar.

Natalie Williams Director of Essential Site Skills added “SDG UK is clearly a forward thinking business. It’s been great to help them progress towards their goals”. Funded by the European Social Fund and Skills Funding Agency, Skills Support for the Workforce provides free skills planning support and fully funded training to eligible businesses in Greater Lincolnshire.
