A new monthly business networking event was launched at Regus, St Albans at 2 Victoria Square on Monday, 30 April and featured data protection expert Steve Jones who spoke about what businesses need to do to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that will come into force in May.
The event will be hosted by FSB membership advisor Vincent Iweka, and they will always be held on the last Monday of the month. The launch was well attended with about 25 people attending.
Vincent said: “This is a great event and the venue, being next to the station and is easily accessible form the north and south of the region by car or rail. It gave members and non-members alike a chance to network and make new contacts over a delicious buffet supplied by a local member.”
Talking about the event, data protection expert Steve Jones said: “It is very important that small business that hold information on their clients, customers and contacts ensure that they are complying with the new regulations. My talk went through the most important steps that a small business can take to ensure that they stay on the right side of the law.”
The events are open to both FSB members and non-members alike and with St Albans being such a hub for networking it has already generated a lot of interest.
The networking evening costs £10 for members and non-members and includes tea or coffee and a buffet supper and as well as the formal networking, there will usually be a speaker at the event as well as a business card draw which will give the winner five minutes to say more about a topic of their choice.
The event will always be the last Monday of the month and the next one after the launch will meeting, will be on June 25. (the last Monday in May is a bank holiday) and will feature member and business coach Richard Parry.
