In 2013, Sekoya Specialist Employment Services was the 300th business to be launched following receipt of business start-up training and subsequent valuable follow-on support provided by Outset Cornwall (a start-up business support programme).
Since then, Managing Director Donna Negus has continued to dramatically expand her business and now has approximately 140 clients on her books, and has recently recruited 5 further members of staff, boosting the team to 6 including Donna (who is a qualified solicitor). The latest recruits are:
Ruth Harvey who recently returned to Cornwall from London where she worked as a solicitor for various international law firms for many years, particularly specialising in all aspects of employment relations. Alison Potter joined the firm last year having previously worked in the banking sector as a mortgage adviser.
Jo Fyffe joined the firm at the end of May after previously working as an HR Manager at a local fire and security business and Rachel Bateman joined the firm in July having worked as a solicitor alongside Donna and Practice Manager Kim Rose previously at a local law firm.
Managing Director Donna Negus said: “I and the team are always happy to hear from clients, and are always available outside of ordinary working hours to assist, particularly as we realise that exceptional situations can arise at any time which require our urgent assistance”.
Ann Vandermeulen, FSB Development Manager said: “Donna has come a long way since first working with Outset Cornwall and is a great example of how entrepreneurs like her can capitalise on business support.
"Sekoya is also an excellent example of how a business that starts as a small operation, can grow swiftly and have major benefits to the local economy as in Donna’s case employing five staff. That’s a great success story and we look forward to seeing these FSB members continue to go from strength to strength!”
