At The Open University, we’re not just academic experts. We work with organisations to understand their business challenges. The OU student profile is very different from campus-based universities. Our students study part-time, often while working, and because the study is challenging and demanding, our students develop a variety of valuable skills and qualities that are relevant to the work place.
Working in partnership with Santander, the SME Internship Programme helps students and graduates gain work experience within small and medium sized organisations.
For the employer, this scheme is a great way to attract and retain the very best talent. The work on placement may include, but isn’t limited to:-
• Undertaking background research to scope the viability of a project
• Leading on the delivery of a specific short term project
• Organising an event
• Developing communications such as newsletters and social media accounts
• Particular technical work linked to the student’s degree
Students are paid a minimum of £300 per week. For placements of up to 2 weeks, Santander will pay for the student in full, for placements of 3-10 weeks, you will need to pay the student £150.00 per week, which Santander will match.
