The annual show again came to the Award winning De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea (pictured). The show provides an opportunity for local SME’s to recruit and find apprenticeship trainees. The new innovation for 2019 included two zones on the themes of employability and enterprise. FSB had a foot in both courts with a stand in the Enterprise zone to support start-up entrepreneurs and businesses, whilst presenting in the seminar programme on ‘Shining Through: how to improve your employability’.
Lee Harrington, the FSB’s Membership Adviser attended the show alongside FSB’s 1066 leader, Nicolae Trofin. Martin Searle, FSB’s Development Manager for Sussex delivered the seminar, on a subject dear to his heart, commenting, “People, younger and older need support to not only help them find opportunities but make the most of them when they have that chance. Keeping your knowledge, skills and experiences up to date for the world of business and work is essential to success.”
The fair, one of the best attended and busiest in the area, also included seminars on CV writing, career planning and apprenticeship awareness. Partners in the event include the local MP, Hew Merriman, Rother District Council, the growth hub: Business East Sussex, Bexhill Chamber and Google. Clive Soper, FSB’s South East Policy leader who found time to show his support on the day, said “this show takes forward FSB’s skills priorities in the south east on enterprise, employability and apprenticeships. It was great that FSB played a major part in it.”
