Stamford-Street-Market_detail

Once again the stunning stone town of Stamford plays host to the Georgian Festival organised by South Kesteven District Council to celebrate Stamford’s glorious Georgian heritage.

The last festival in 2015 was a superb event attracting huge crowds and generating an estimated £1million into the local economy. The dates this year are from 21st – 24th September with the opening presentation given by renowned art historian and TV presenter, Dan Cruickshank.

This year’s festival is a highlight in a special year for Stamford as it also celebrates the 50th anniversary of becoming the UK’s first conservation area.

An unmissable programme of events includes the ever popular horse and carriage rides, a bustling street market, a Georgian science show, military encampments and period traders together with free family entertainment on the Meadows across the weekend.

Saturday evening sees a glittering ‘Illuminati’ event which incorporates the story of the ancient Stamford Bull Run, culminating in a fantastic 3D projection and firework display from All Saints church.

FSB has sponsored the ‘Grand Tour of Stamford’ quiz which will encourage people to wander around this beautiful town to answer questions and vote for the best window display put on by a Stamford town centre business on the route.
