FSB North West partnered with Google over the summer in a series of events designed to boost the digital skills of High Street businesses.
FSB North West Policy Representative Jenny Hardman (pictured) opened the Darwen event saying: “Our high streets are fertile grounds in which new businesses grow. Nearly 100 new shops open the door for the first time every day of the year. Slightly more than that close down. Just a small change to that balance can turn that whole narrative around. The challenger and disrupter in the high street drama is usually online retail. Yet we still spend more than eight out of every ten pounds in shops.”
“This Google Digital Garage tour offers small businesses the opportunity to gain a wide range of valuable skills, in person, from experts, for free, on the streets of their own towns and cities. That can help inspire the rebirth of our high streets and a brighter future for our towns. And the Federation of Small Businesses is all in favour of that”.
Northern Powerhouse and High Streets Minister Jake Berry MP also spoke at the event, commending FSB and small businesses on the work taking place to reinvigorate our High streets across the UK.
