Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) recently hosted a roundtable with Will Quince MP in his Colchester constituency.
The event which was held at Colchester Town Hall, gave members the opportunity to speak to Mr Quince about the issues that are affecting their businesses such as late payments, Brexit, the rising cost of running a business and the lack of diverse funding opportunities.
The meeting was chaired by FSB Essex Area Lead and Regional Chair, David Barnes.
Mr Quince told attendees that despite the recent budget announcement which was good news for small businesses, the government is still looking at the business rates system in a bid to make it more fit for purpose in the long term.
Improving local roads, the pedestrianisation of the high street, crime and antisocial behaviour and parking were also priority issues raised at the event.
Mr Quince spoke about the extensive work that had taken place to tackle rough sleepers in the high street and to restore community pride.
