FSB members enjoy reception at Houses of Parliament
FSB members enjoy reception at Houses of Parliament
South East
05 January 2018
“It was a great opportunity to meet other businesses and hear more from FSB and Kelly Tolhurst MP,” said Karen Wood, owner of Woods Restaurant. “While we were there we took the opportunity to visit the public gallery so we also heard some of the debates in the House of Commons.”
James Tomlinson of Direct Link Express Deliveries said: “We’ve been members for years but haven’t been to any events. This is our first and I am very glad we came!”
Guest speaker and host Kelly Tolhurst MP highlighted Kent’s need from improved infrastructure. “I know that this is one of the key issues for businesses,” Kelly told guests. “As a small business owner myself, I understand the pressures that you are under.”
Helen Walbey, FSB National Chair for Diversity, urged business owners to consider all options when looking to recruit more staff. “We know there is a skills shortage and there is something we can do about it – give people an opportunity to prove they can do it. FSB South East runs regular Skills 30:30 workshops in schools where business owners can meet students face-to-face – if you have not taken part in one of these events yet, I urge you to do so!”
