FSB Manchester member makes the Small Business Saturday 100

Organisers of Small Business Saturday are once again highlighting 100 small businesses, one a day for the 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday 2017, and an FSB member from Rochdale has been selected!

Debbie Timmins (pictured), who set up LoveMyCleaner.com in October, has got on board with the SBS team to help raise awareness of the event, which is now in its fifth year in the UK.

For the last four years, the 100 have not only received exposure on Small Business Saturday's social media channels and in the local and national press, but also joined the Small Business Saturday team in London at receptions in both Downing Street and The Treasury Drum with the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Said Debbie: “I only launched my business in October so I’m not even a year old yet, but Small Business Saturday seemed a great way to get my name out there and so I applied. I was gobsmacked to be selected, not least because I only submitted my application on the deadline day. Needless to say I was delighted to be picked.”

The first of the 2017 Small Business Saturday 100 businesses will be unveiled on September 25th. And while Debbie knows her date, she has been told to keep it under wraps until the week before – so watch this space for news on that.

Debbie added: “It can be a scary and lonely process starting up your own business so it’s great to be involved with organisations such as SBS who are there to lend a hand and shine the spotlight on our small ventures.

“As small or new businesses (in my case it’s both) we are only too aware of how difficult it can be to gain any traction against the marketing might of the bigger more established brands. It’s not that our services or products are inferior it’s simply that we can’t shout about them loudly enough. In this respect both the SBS team and the FSB are an excellent way to crank up the volume in a noisy marketplace!”

Rochdale will be the scene of a number of SBS events, starting with Rochdale Biz Show 2017 on Wednesday, September 20 at the town hall between 2pm and 7pm. The B2B event will provide opportunity for Rochdale’s self-employed, independents or small business owners to exhibit and promote their services and products to other small business owners.

Besides the small business exhibition in the Great Hall the event will host a dedicated networking area downstairs along with a programme of inspiring and informative speakers. FSB will also be present hosting its ‘Connect’ networking free of charge in the evening. More information HERE.

On SBS itself, this year on December 2, the town’s Exchange Shopping Centre are hosting a Christmas craft market.  If you’d like to have stall there more information HERE.
