FSB London meets Iain Duncan Smith

Eight local Members of the FSB in London took the opportunity to meet with Member of Parliament for Chingford and Woodford Green, Iain Duncan Smith, over coffee and pastries in an idyllic Essex barn in the heart of Epping Forest.

Iain heard direct from members on their concerns regarding the apprenticeship system that is failing many small firms in London – we are calling on the Government to put more investment in this area to support the smallest businesses.

There was a long conversation surrounding Brexit and the uncertainty that  is being caused amongst small businesses by the inability of politicians to deal with the impasse.

Other key issues raised were around parking concerns to local businesses and pharmaceutical concerns that greater pressure is being passed onto local pharmacies as a result of a stretched NHS.

The issue of business rates and the overall cost of doing business in London was raised – you can view a short video by Iain here on the general steer of the meeting and his views of the discussion.
