FSB East Sussex has a vibrant business policy group that makes waves in support of small and medium enterprises. Clive Soper, Regional Policy Chairman leads the team and is a business representative on the South East Local Enterprise Partnership – a body that pumps hundreds of millions of pounds of value into the south east economy.
“We develop ideas and influence leading politicians to back small business.” said Clive. In Brighton and Hove, FSB sits on the City’s economic partnership, has a dialogue with Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership and with the Council’s leader.
“Our focus at present is improving transport across the region,” Clive added. “We want High Speed (HS1) train services pushed beyond Ashford-Bexhill onto an Eastbourne parkway station in Polegate. We are also arguing for an A27 expressway linking the dual carriageway at Polegate to its counterpart east of Lewes. Eastbourne and its environs are growing. We need a modern transport infrastructure that supports this.”
