The National Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses has been spending time in Norfolk to learn about some of the key challenges facing local members.

Mike Cherry came to the county for a day to visit local members, speak at events, and engage with stakeholders.

At a breakfast roundtable at Norwich City Football Club, Mike heard from members about issues such as connectivity and skills. He also spoke to them about the steps that were being taken to further strengthen FSB’s offering to its members.

Accompanied by Regional Policy Representative Alan Todd, Mike then visited a couple of manufacturing businesses – Quentor Cases in Rackheath and Dabbrook Engineering in Great Yarmouth – to see them in action and find out more about the biggest challenges that they saw on the horizon.

At a lunchtime meeting, Mark Goodall – Senior Manager at Aker Solutions and Chair of the new All Industry Energy Council – outlined the unique strengths of the East of England’s energy sector and explained to Mike how small businesses were being engaged in the supply chain.

To finish the day, Mike spoke at the launch of a new FSB Connect event in Great Yarmouth. He told local businesses about some of FSB’s key lobbying wins and took questions from attendees on issues such as procurement and skills.
