It is always good to hear news of a small business making plans to expand, especially in these times of tough trading conditions. The Elite Fish and Chip Company already have shops in Ruskington, Sleaford and Tritton Road, Lincoln. At the East Midlands finals event of the ‘FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2019’ they were represented by Rachel Tweedale who collected not one but two awards on behalf of the family, as they scooped the 'Family Business of the Year Award’ as well the 'Community Award' which was for successfully collecting £30,000 for local charities. When receiving one of the awards Rachel indicated that the family had plans to expand the business further across Lincolnshire.
The next venture, just announced, is to open a restaurant and takeaway in the historic uphill Bailgate area of Lincoln. The new shop will be in the former Lloyds TSB Bank branch building so they will also be bringing empty premises back into use which is a great contribution to the ‘high streets transition’ currently underway. The Bailgate and Steep Hill areas of Lincoln are already fairly unique in that the majority of outlets there are independently owned small businesses offering a unique visitor and shopping experience with excellent visual merchandising and so are ‘ahead of the game’ compared to many ‘high streets’. The premises will benefit from a major refurbishment and several new jobs will be created.
More than traditional Fish and Chips, this new restaurant will also offer a variety of high quality seafood dishes to tempt locals and tourists alike.
FSB Lincolnshire wishes Elite well for this expansion and good luck for more success in the ‘FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2019’ National Finals in London next month.
