FSB 1066 networking welcomes Hastings Pier CEO

Jo Stewart, the Chief Executive Officer of the Award winning Hastings Pier (pictured) was the keynote speaker at this month’s FSB networking breakfast.

The 7-9 o’clock event took place at the seafront White Rock Hotel opposite the Pier where delegates enjoyed a ‘full English’ or other tasty breakfast options.

Jo spoke to an audience of over 30 FSB businesses, keen to network, share business advice and contacts. Her background is in commercial management settings, for instance, with Sainsbury’s and most recently with Battle Abbey visitor attraction which showcases the internationally renowned Battle of Hastings.

She said the rebuilt Hastings Pier was slowly but surely improving its customer numbers and finding its feet with a strong events programme. It has a strong offer with good quality food and drink, options to stage indoor and outdoor events as well as its trademark small business shops and airy, modern promenade.

Questions from the audience showed great support for the Pier – with a number of shareholders in the room saying they were involved in the fundraising following the fire in 2010. There was still work to be done for the Pier to become part of the fabric of the Hastings scene for tourists and business. However, FSB pledged through its strong networks in the town to do its best to help Jo achieve her ambitious plans for financial sustainability and progress.

FSB 1066 Networking breakfasts take place every third Thursday of the month. Next is on 21 September at Seafood Brasserie, Bexhill on Sea. We hope to see you there! Book here.
