FSB was delighted to be an exhibitor at the free to attend Southampton Expo on 2nd November. At the wonderful venue, the Ageas Bowl, over 160 exhibitors set up their promotional stands ready to welcome an expected 800+ delegates.
Right from the start, there was clearly an upbeat and optimistic mood. As the day progressed, there were lots of business discussions taking place, which was complimented by an all-day seminar programme, speed networking opportunities and the essential designated networking areas. It encouraged a really positive atmosphere which seemed to bring out the best in local and regional businesses coming together.
There is perhaps a perception that these types of shows are less popular and that the virtual networking is an easier and more effective option for many businesses. Clearly from the Southampton Expo, feedback was very strong on the importance of face to face engagement, and the opportunity to build and nurture relationships. The chance to talk directly to clients, to other businesses and to seek potential advice is evidently still very important.
Neil Eames, representing FSB in Hampshire and Isle of Wight, said: “We were lucky to see many of our members in attendance, who stopped by to say hello. It also provided a unique opportunity to make some new business contacts, and hopefully to also introduce FSB to some potential new joiners! For both start-ups and established businesses, there were enough exhibitors at the show to generate and maintain interest levels. We look forward to coming back to next year’s Expo and to supporting other business shows locally.”
