Just under a dozen FSB members have attended a FSB Business Engagement event held at the University of Derby.
Following a period of networking the FSB Development Manager for FSB in Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire, Mike Watkinson, presented on recent Federation policy campaigns and wins such as #FairPayFairPlay and in the Spring Budget.
The second part of the event was a roundtable discussion with members giving feedback on small businesses challenges including upskilling and improving business confidence in the current political climate.
A wide range of small businesses attended the two hour engagement session including from child care and physical wellbeing sectors.
Also in attended was FSB Area Lead, Mark Chimley, who helped Chair the meeting and lives in Derbyshire.
FSB Development Manager, Mike Watkinson, said: “This was a really good event and I was delighted to update local members on how the FSB has been fighting for them in Westminster with our lobbying and campaigns.
“It was also important to hear about the pressing issues which they currently face as small business owners and employees like getting the right skills and training for them to flourish.
“With this evidence in hand I can then approach local decision makers like MPs and councils with policy asks which will hopefully result in positive changes for our hardworking members.”
