East Mids volunteer wins top FSB award

National Chairman Mike Cherry has presented a special award for "Exceptional Achievement" to volunteer Michael Weedon. The award was presented in front of 300 elected volunteer leaders at the FSBs volunteer conference in February.

Michael, who acts as both policy representative for the East Midlands and chairman of the FSB's national Retail & High Streets Policy Unit, engages on behalf of small businesses at all levels of government, with members of Parliament and with the media.

We’re delighted to be able to recognise and celebrate where someone has stepped forward as a local FSB volunteer and made such an impact, right up to a national level, as well as running their own business.

Michael commented: "I'm honoured to receive this award, just as I am to have the opportunity to stand up and speak on behalf of the small businesses that make up 99% of all the enterprises in the country. They are of vital importance to the future of this country and their importance is increasing as we approach momentous changes for the whole of the UK."
