East Midlands Volunteers take SME issues to Parliament

Following the FSB Volunteer conference, some of the East Midlands team visited Parliament to kick off the year’s lobbying.

Les Phillimore, Regional Chair, Michael Weedon, Policy Chair, Clare Elsby, Area Leader Jennifer Thomas, Development Manager and Nicola Moss, Operational Support Coordinator visited three of their local MPs- Alberto Costa (South Leicestershire), Andrew Lewer (Northampton South) and Neil O’Brien (Harborough) to discuss key issues and asks which we are looking for their support with.

The group were given a tour of the Houses of Parliament by Art Conaghan, Head of office for Andrew Lewer who seems to match his extensive knowledge of Northamptonshire with that of the magnificent and historic London building.

Asks included more support for SMEs looking for grow on space, to export and for struggling town centres. The asks included in the FSBs Fair Pay Fair Play campaign were also raised.
