Local authorities have been hearing from the regional FSB ream about the steps that they can take to back small businesses.

Regional Chair Salena Dawson and Development Manager Andrew Mower have begun a programme of engagement aimed at ensuring that the FSB works effectively with councils throughout Norfolk and Suffolk to support the counties’ smaller firms.

On 7th July the team met Great Yarmouth Council Leader Graham Plant and Economic Development Officer Peter Wright to learn more about the council’s key policy priorities, such as its backing for the Third River Crossing over the River Yare.

Two weeks later the team were at Norwich City Council for a meeting with Leader Alan Waters and Economic Development Officer Sharon Quantrell. Skills was high on the agenda, as were broadband and business rates, while ways of working together in the future were also discussed.

Further meetings with councils across the region are planned over the coming months.
