FSB met Rt Hon Esther McVey MP, Secretary of State for Works and Pensions at a sunny, south coast get-together promoting the Government’s Disability Confident scheme for employers.

Organised by Huw Merriman MP for Bexhill and Battle, FSB attended, together with a number of business members who responded to the call in the Sussex FSB e-newsletter. Pictured at the event are Huw Merriman MP (right) and Esther McVey MP (second left).

Fern Lulham (left), a local businesswoman with a background in radio and media,  gave a rousing and inspirational talk on the benefits of the Disability Confident scheme and how employers can benefit from the loyalty, hard work, talent and ‘can-do’ attitude of disabled people. “We also highlighted that self-employed entrepreneurs are a diverse and growing sector in their own right these days.

People from all walks of life run, and are considering running, their own business and this can be a positive choice for someone with a disability”, said Martin Searle, Development Manager for Sussex.
