Digital DNA 2017

The second annual Digital DNA Awards took place in St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast in June, and FSB Northern Ireland were proud sponsors of the App of the Year prize to recognise the most creative utilisation and application of digital technology solutions to achieve improved outcomes. The Awards formed part of the Digital DNA 2017 Flagship Event, which took place in Belfast’s St George’s Market, and around 500 people attended the celebratory dinner to recognise the achievements of a wide range of local companies. With an esteemed line-up of judges from Allen and Overy, Deloitte Digital, Fujitsu, CDE Global, Options Technology, Axon Financial Systems and the Electricity Supply Board, choosing the best examples in categories dominated by outstanding individuals and companies was no easy task!

Scooping the FSB sponsored category was a partnership of Sugar Rush Creative and the Probation Board for Northern Ireland, for their ‘Changing Lives’ app, which is designed to help those in contact with the criminal justice system to access information in a more accessible way. For people who have been victims of crime, the app provides information and advice on what to expect at each stage of the process, whilst also supporting those who have been convicted to manage their offending behaviour, reduce their risk of re-offending and access help to support any mental health or addiction issues that may be affecting them.

Congratulating them on their success, FSB Northern Ireland Regional Chair, John Friel, said: “Changing Lives is an example of what imagination, coupled with a determination to improve service delivery and embrace modern technology, can deliver. The insights gathered by attendees to the Digital DNA Flagship Event had an unrivalled opportunity to work with and learn from global examples in digital leadership, and I hope they use that knowledge to help their businesses to grow from strength to strength.”
