The Devon Region and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) congratulates Kuvrs which has been selected for this year’s Small Biz 100 list.
The business is one of 20 enterprising FSB members chosen to be part of the annual initiative that promotes the chosen firms in the 100 days running up to Small Business Saturday- this year held on 2 December.
FSB is very proud of the businesses chosen to be involved with Small Business Saturday, which highlights the successes of the small business community.
Kuvrs, founded by Marion & Bob Bignell in 2010, is the result of an accident! Marion broke her wrist & being, in her words, “clumsy & vain”, she wasn’t happy to have just one colour on her wrist for a whole 6 weeks and then the realisation that her cast would be gathering all sorts of dirt, however careful she was, meant that the idea of a washable fabric cover was born. The online shop was set up in January 2010 and now cast covers are available from Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Buuy, Scoot and the #SBSShop.
A rebrand from the original name “Cover My Cast” in June 2016 along with new sewing machines & great new labels was a very positive move & “Kuvrs” is now the foremost cast cover brand in the UK & Europe.
In July 2017 it was time for another big step and two new partners were brought into the business. Sam & Steph Sparkes, who are long time friends of Bob & Marion, bring admin, finance & digital media skills into the mix and along with Bob & Marion they are keen to take Kuvrs forward.
On the website there are 25+ fabrics & designs to choose from and all will make the wearer and those around them smile. We all sincerely hope that no-one needs our products but when that accident happens or if you or someone you love is prescribed with splints for long-term use please keep Kuvrs in mind – why? Because Happy People Heal and Feel Better.
FSB Devon Chairman Andrew Postlethwaite said: “Congratulations to all the small businesses included on this year’s Small Biz 100 list. We are especially proud to have one of our local members selected for the scheme. Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to celebrate the successes of the 5.5 million small firms and self-employed in the UK and show consumers why they should be supported all year round.
“The campaign, now in its fifth year, has gone from strength to strength and once again we are encouraging everyone to get behind small firms in their communities to make the day bigger and better than ever.”
A massive £717 million was spent with small businesses during the 2016 event - a 15 per cent increase from the previous year.
