The FSB’s Gloucestershire and West of England area showed the advantages of collaboration with like-minded organisations when they co-hosted and jointly organised two excellent events which were held within 24 hours of each other.
The first was on the subject of apprenticeships and skills which the FSB organised alongside contacts in the apprenticeship, training and academic field to create a morning which was well attended and extremely well received (see picture).
Development manager Sam Holliday joined a panel with representatives of the University of Gloucestershire’s ‘GOAL’ team plus local colleges and apprenticeship providers to look at the current ‘skills crisis’ and the need to get more people into apprenticeships with small businesses – and the support available to help them do so.
The day after, the team joined forces with techUK – a body containing many key businesses in the high-tech and digital arenas – to stage an excellent roundtable event looking at the cloud, cloud security and (inevitably perhaps) GDPR. This was another important event which once again gave us a new platform to share FSB thoughts and policies.
By working with others, both events gave the team a chance not only to stage great events for our members but also to get in front of non-members as well and show they what the FSB does and what we believe in when it comes to key subjects like the skills agenda and the growing dangers of online business security
