Women from across Kent took part in a big brunch this July at Buckmore Park Kart Circuit, Maidstone.
The FSB Untapped Potential report and Facebook’s #shemeansbusiness research clearly identified that one of the key barriers women starting their own business is the lack of female roles models.
FSB Kent has been facilitating business brunch meetings for the past two years to enable women to network, offer advice and support and build their contacts. More than 300 women have taken part.
Entrepreneur Fran Boorman was guest speaker at the Big Brunch. “FSB does such fabulous work in supporting small businesses and this event was a perfect example,” said Fran. “The organisers created an empowering and engaged environment bringing together ambitious and motivated women.”
Jo Wimble-Groves, owner of Active Digital and Guilty Mother blogger was also a keynote speaker and said; “I hope that by sharing my story of success, together can create new opportunities for women in business all around the UK. Sharing inspiring stories is so important. It can sometimes can be the difference from someone taking a leap of faith on business growth, which in turns fuels our British economy.”
FSB Women in Enterprise Taskforce member Deborah Turner has been hosting these events in Kent for the past three years.
“We are committed to raising awareness of women in enterprise and these events help showcase the diverse businesses that women have started and succeeded,” said Deborah. “Encouraging more women to start businesses and supporting those in business is a key strategy for FSB. Events like this where women can see real examples of women achieving in the work place are essential.”
SAVE THE DATE! The next Big Brunch will take place on 4 December 2018.
