This Roundtable Discussion was postponed several times due to ‘Brexit’ voting in Parliament so our members were quite excited when Friday’s meeting with Chris Grayling MP and Transport Secretary was confirmed.
Ten FSB members including Regional Chairman, Brian Woods met with the Secretary of State to discuss local issues ie planning and business rates and made him aware that the reality is that there is a shortage of office/workshop space not to mention that under 10,000 sq ft comes at a premium!
Completion of the Reigate and Banstead Business Park was a good example of the way forward and the Secretary of State mentioned that 5G rollout will make such a development possible locally.
Various South East transport issues were raised by SE Policy Representative, Clive Soper and Chris Grayling was happy to answer all of these questions.
The FSB Campaign on ‘Potholes’ was explained and the Minister remarked that more money from Central Government would be forthcoming but that better smart repairs were required and that there will be a tightening of the laws controlling utility companies and work around roads.
Following this meeting our members left on a very positive note.
