The Supreme Court has ruled that tribunal fees are unlawful after a case was taken before judges by Unison, which argued the system stopped workers from accessing justice.
Employment tribunal fees were put in place to curb the number of unfounded claims and we believe a fair and proportionate system of fees should be put in place to prevent vexatious claims.
The ruling means employers could now be open to more claims, potentially costing thousands of pounds in legal costs.
Scotland and Northern Ireland were not subject to fees for tribunals and remain unaffected by this ruling.
